Bald eagle flies free after rehabilitators rescue him

Bald eagle flies free after rehabilitators rescue him

Yesterday, April 19, an adult bald eagle was found entangled in a fence in a field in northern Virginia. Certified wildlife rehabilitators from the Blue Ridge Wildlife Center in Millwood, Va., retrieved the bird from the fence and cared for it at their facility. The bird was exhausted but lucky. He had only minor injuries and, after receiving fluids and spending the night in the centre, he was ready to be released.

Center veterinarian Dr. Jennifer Riley released the eagle today at Sky Meadows State Park. Here is a slideshow of images showing the progress of trapping, caring for, retrieving and releasing the bird. You can also click on page 2 below to see a video of the release. Thanks to the Blue Ridge Wildlife Center for sharing these materials.
